Umpqua E-C Caddis
The Umpqua E-C Caddis, developed by Ralph Cutter, is a highly effective dry fly pattern specifically designed to imitate both Emerging and Crippled caddisflies stuck in the surface film. Unlike high-floating patterns, the E-C Caddis features a low-riding profile, a parachute hackle, and a trailing shuck to accurately mimic the vulnerable insect as it struggles to escape the nymphal casing. Originating in the Sierras but successful nationwide, this fly is particularly deadly during heavy caddis hatches when trout become selective and refuse standard dries.
