Solitude Double Dipper Chironomid

The Solitude Double Dipper Chironomid is an extremely popular and highly effective bead-head pattern for stillwater fly fishing. The name "Double Dipper" often refers to the fly's layered body or the idea of two flies being presented close together, suggesting an easily accessible meal for the trout.

This fly is designed to imitate both the chironomid larva (bloodworm) and the emerging pupa, making it versatile across different stages of the midge hatch. It features a prominent bead for fast sinking and an attractive, often metallic or brightly colored, segmented body that provides both flash and realism. It is typically fished suspended beneath an indicator at a specific depth determined by the lake bottom, or slowly stripped to mimic the insect's emergence.
