This fly was born on The Deschutes river swinging for the resident trout there.
I wanted to best mimic the gliding action of a sculpin and started to play with fly designs that would best do that.
I settled on a balanced style fly as it keeps the fly riding level as it comes across the run. I have also found this fly to be super effective dead drifted or hung in slower waters too.
