The Umpqua Silhouette Dun is a low-profile, high-performing dry fly pattern designed by Andy Burk to imitate the mature mayfly, or dun, as it rests on the water's surface film. Its sparse dressing and horizontal deer hair wing create a realistic silhouette that is particularly effective for fooling notoriously selective trout feeding on Blue-Winged Olives (BWO) or Pale Morning Duns (PMD). This fly should be fished dead-drift to imitate the natural insect during a hatch, especially when the water is calm and the trout are examining their food closely.
